Trust

Apologies for the very late post. This will be a two part series about trust and control

Trust is one of those things that is hard to do at times but essential for everyone to have. Think about that one person that you trust, you have told them things about yourself that no one else knows. Have you ever wondered how that trust was formed? Was it through building a friendship or you just felt comfortable telling them these things?

Either way, at times it seems like we trust man more than we trust God.

Trust and control go hand in hand because in order for you to trust you have to lose some form of control and for you to be in control, you have to trust the situation or trust yourself that you are making the correct decision. Without either thing it can make you feel like you’re floating. You are just letting life go past you that you are not really living but you’re just existing. There is a big difference. You can live and make the most of the life that God has given you or you can merely exist and just let life drag you by.

Many Christians don’t have trust in God because they see God as being up there and there seems to be a distance between us and God. To have trust in someone means that we have a strong belief that this person is reliable therefore we can feel comfortable going to this person with any matter in our lives. Putting this into context with God the trust in God is not present because we have become casual with God. We go to church because we either can’t wait to see someone from church or because we it is part of the Sunday routine. This then leaves you feeling worse than you came in because you have not allowed yourself to be filled or to receive anything from God.

The scripture that I will break down for y’all is Proverbs 3:5-6 ‘’trust in The Lord will your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall make your paths straight’’. We are given many steps in this scripture trust in The Lord but in order to trust God we have to have a relationship with him where if something was to happen we are not wavered nor do we stumble because we know that God is in control and we have to give your heart to God. You have to make room for him to reside in your heart. He should be the main focus of everything that you do essentially people should know that you are a follower of Christ by your love. Love abounds everything. By doing this, we leave God in control and we put ourselves out of the situation knowing that God will help us overcome therefore instead of leaning on our own understanding, we lean on God.

Leaning on God means that you have total faith in him. You have faith that he will come through in his timing and things will change. You have peace when things are going on because you know what Numbers 23:19 says that ‘’God is not a man that he should lie’’. Trusting in God requires a step of faith it is you letting God and allowing God to come in and be God. So I want to challenge you, during this week, see where you can step out on trust and give it to God and just witness what he does.

Can you be a Christian and trust man more than you do God?

Peace & Love
